KIVI Innovation Drinks: 3D PRINTING - What's going on at the front?
On Monday September 27 there will be a KIVI Innovation Drink with this time the theme: 3D PRINTING - What's going on at the front?
In the recent years, many promises have been made about 3D printing. During this 3D printing series, organized by KIVI Students Twente and Young KIVI Engineers, these state-of-the-art 3D-print projects will be looked at from various prospectives. The speakers will take you through the specific technical challenges and solutions they experienced to make the project a success.
The first speaker is Rob Reilink. Rob studied Electrical Engineering at the University of Twente and received the PhD degree at the group of Robotics and Mechatronics in 2013. He has since then worked as a mechatronics engineer. In 2018 he joined Ultimaker where he is currently developing the next generation of Ultimaker 3D printers. He is a passionate tinkerer, keen on solving technical challenges, quite often using 3D printed solutions.
Ultimaker was founded in 2011 in the Netherlands, and has grown over the years to become a market leader, creating powerful, professional, and accessible desktop 3D printers. Ultimaker’s team of over 400 employees continually strives to accelerate the world’s transition to local digital manufacturing by offering the highest-quality 3D printers, software, and materials on the market.
The second speaker is Henkjan van der Pol, Chief Technology Officer at Bond3D. HenkJan van der Pol has a Master in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Twente. He has his focus on technology development, is responsible for the technology roadmap of Bond3D, intellectual property protection and management within Bond3D and has his current position at Bond3D since February 2016. He has more than 25 years’ experience in development of complex technology, machines, and production in the tech and semiconductor industries.
Bond High Performance 3D Technology BV founded in 2014, is driving innovation in the field of 3D printing. Bond’s patented technology is unique in its ability to produce functional parts from high-performance polymers; polymers that are certified for use in life critical applications. A highly skilled growing team of international professionals develops a novel printing technology, including system mechatronics, software, slicing technology and process development. The combination of high-performance polymers and the developed technology targets strategic markets such as medical, aerospace, energy, automotive manufacturing and engineering applications. Bond3D empowers and inspires these markets to push boundaries for novel applications using the shaping capabilities of 3D printing.
