You are invited to a brand new edition of the KIVI Innovation Drinks Twente! This edition will start with two inspiring presentations about High-Tech Magnets and will conclude with an informal networking drink in the Grand Café.
The first presentation will be given by Rob Tijssen, University Medical Center Utrecht, Department of Radiotherapy.
Rob received an MSc in Medical Engineering from the Technische Universiteit Eindhoven in 2007. After graduating he moved to the UK, where he enrolled as a graduate student at the FMRIB Centre, University of Oxford. In 2011 he received a DPhil in Clinical Neurology for his thesis, entitled: "Novel Methods for Brainstem FMRI". He then moved back to the Netherlands to start his Medical Physics residency at the UMC Utrecht. His current work involves: development of 4D-MRI methods, setting up QA protocols for MRI-sim and MR-Linac, and the introduction of a new dose algorithm for treatment planning.
The second presentation will be given by Peter Christianen, professor at the High Field Magnet Laboratory (HFML) in Nijmegen.
Professor Christianen obtained an MSc in Physics from Radboud University in 1989 where he then went on to pursue a PhD. In 1993 he was awarded his PhD on the ultrafast dynamics of hot carriers in gallium arsenide structures. This research was partly performed at the HFML. After his PhD research he became an employee at the HFML, where he first focused on his PhD topic, but around 2003 his interest shifted towards soft condensed matter, like liquid crystals and organic materials. In 2013 he was appointed Professor of Soft Condensed Matter and Nanomaterials in High Magnetic Fields and since 2014 he is also the Director of Education for the Institute of Mathematics, Physics & Astronomy at Radboud University.
