EIRES: Unveiling of experimental battery facility of GENIUS project at TU/e Campus
Genius project
TU Eindhoven obtained a European subsidy of almost 650.000 euro. Dutch government adds an additional 350.000 euro. Moreover, the province of Noord-Brabant provides more than 375.000 euro. The name of the project is GENIUS, which stands for Grid Efficiency Network Integration for Universal Sustainability.
The GENIUS project will implement an advanced control platform designed to optimize energy flows by integrating various energy sources and storage systems. This innovative approach will consider technical performance, energy pricing, and user behavior, providing a model for tackling grid congestion across approximately 3,500 industrial sites in the Netherlands.
The nine project partners will solve the grid congestion at the TU/e campus with the setup and, at the same time, the setup will be used to enable experiments with battery systems and related innovative technologies to speed up the development of those technologies.
We are pleased to announce a significant milestone at TU Eindhoven with the GENIUS project (Grid Efficiency Network Integration for Universal Sustainability).
Key details:
- Funding from the EU, Dutch government, and Noord-Brabant province
- Unveiling: A 3.4 MWh smart battery on November 18, 15-17h
- Collaboration: In partnership with nine project stakeholders
- Objectives: Addressing campus grid congestion and establishing a sustainable innovation testbed
