Gorgon Upstream Project
Omschrijving
Lecture “Gorgon Upstream Project”.
The Gorgon Upstream project, operated by Chevron Australia in partnership with ExxonMobil and Shell, will develop the Gorgon and Jansz gas fields, located between 130 km and 200 km off the north-west coast of Western Australia. It represents the largest single resource development in Australian history and includes the construction of a 15 million tonne per year liquefied natural gas (LNG) plant on Barrow Island.
Allseas are providing engineering, installation and various complementary activities for the installation of 21 pipelines – six trunk lines and 15 infield lines – totalling approximately 650 km. Diversity in pipeline size and weight, a significant range in water depth (15 m – 1,350 m) and the need for special operations such as installation of pipeline end terminations (PLETs), trenching, mattress installation and flooding, gauging and testing (FGT) presents many technical challenges. Other interesting factors on this project are the remoteness of the installation location, the absence of any major marine facility in close proximity and the installations near nature reserve 'Barrow Island'. The work is carried out by Allseas' dynamically positioned pipelay vessels Lorelay and Solitaire, and support vessels Highland Navigator and Calamity Jane.
