The first edition of the annual symposium on Maritime Offshore & Sustainable Technology (MOST) took place on 21 November 2019 at the Hague University of Applied Sciences. On that day, the Offshore Technology section of the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers (KIVI) celebrated its 50-year anniversary from its foundation in 1969.

The theme of this symposium, presented to you by KIVI Offshore Technology and KIVI Maritime Technology, was ‘Future of the North Sea’. It is KIVI’s mission to share knowledge and facilitate the engineering power that is embedded in the Dutch Offshore Culture. The development of the North Sea is high on the Dutch political agenda, as described in last year’s report by the Dutch Government ‘The Future of the North Sea’.
The objective of the symposium has been to actively contribute to the debate around the future use of the North Sea. Be it in offshore wind, maritime transport, food supply, CO2 storage, removal or re-use of offshore infrastructure, energy transport and storage, and protection of precious bio-diversity, the Dutch Offshore & Maritime industry will play a key role in its future shape. With 500 visitors and speakers from governmental bodies, NGOs, offshore (energy) companies, suppliers, and academia, this objective has been well achieved; inspiring keynotes and student pitches were combined with interactive Q&A sessions to keep the discussion lively. Session themes included Offshore Wind, Surface and Subsurface Developments, as well as the Future of the North Sea which included the honorary medal award ceremony as well as an exciting announcement regarding 4G/5G coverage across the North Sea. And last but not least, the Jubilee Book '50 Years KIVI Offshore Technology' was presented to the audience, and each visitor of the symposium received a copy upon handing in his/her badge. Refer to the program as shown at the bottom of this page.

The Jubilee Book is written by Young Professionals in the Offshore Industry supported by industry experts and describes the role of Dutch Engineers and Technology in the global offshore industry. History, today’s reality and future scenarios are described and discussed, with facts, feelings and perceptions of Dutch CEOs and Offshore engineers in today’s dynamic world.

The Jubilee Book will not only be of interest to the “hard-core” technical expert, but also to readers interested in people and what moves them to work as offshore engineers and be part of the Dutch offshore technology society. More information
