IMPORTANT NOTE

When COVID-19 restrictions would preclude local in-person meeting, the format of the symposium will be either hybrid or entirely digital, depending on the conditions.

Milestone Award 2022
During the symposium, the prestigious IEEE Milestone Award will be dedicated to the invention of the string galvanometer by Willem Einthoven.

Experts in the field will present the technical and medical background of the string galvanometer and the electrocardiograph. Contemporary and future possibilities of electrocardiography and electrophysiology will also be discussed. At the end of the symposium, the renowned ‘Einthoven lecture’ will be given by professor Katja Zeppenfeld.

What will you learn?
You will learn how the string galvanometer was developed at the time. You will also gain insight concerning the impact of its development and thus the impact that the electrocardiogram (ECG) has had on the current possibilities for diagnosis and treatment of arrhythmias. Finally, you will gain understanding of the possibilities for the future of electrophysiology and the latest developments in diagnosis and treatment of ventricular arrhythmias.
