Their Royal Highnesses Princess Beatrix of the Netherlands and Princess Mabel will attend the presentation of the Prins Friso Ingenieursprijs at TU Eindhoven on Wednesday evening, 11 March. For the twelfth time, this award bears the name of the late Prins Friso, engineer in mechanical and aerospace engineering and a member of KIVI.
Engineers who distinguish themselves in expertise, innovative capacity, social impact and entrepreneurship are eligible for the annual Prins Friso Ingenieursprijs. The winner gets to call himself Engineer of the Year for a year. The award is an initiative of the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI), the professional association of engineers since 1847. With the annual awards, KIVI aims to make engineers and their work visible.
This year's three finalists are:
- Dr Kirsten Steinbusch - Programme director at NGF BioBased Circular
- Ir. Martijn Otten - Managing Director at AV Flexologic b.v. / Tech Sleeves B.v. / Color Control Romania
- Ir. Martine Stam - Design and project leader Water Safety at Sweco Nederland B.V.
the engineer who stands out the most according to the set criteria will, as the winner, dedicate a year as an ambassador for engineering and all engineers.
The KIVI Engineering Student Team Award was set up in 2022, partly at the instigation of Princess Mabel. Again this year, this award will be presented to the student team that stands out in the four competences: team spirit, innovativeness, social impact and expertise. This year's finalists are EduQuation, Formula Student Team Delft and Project March.
