Wave energy concepts
Description
For more than 75 years, the Maritime Research Institute of the Netherlands (MARIN) has been active in the field of shipping, shipbuilding and offshore. It uses unique test facilities in Wageningen and Ede and has grown into one of the largest institutes in the world in this field (300 people).
Based on the knowledge developed in this sector, MARIN considers it important to make a contribution in the field of sustainable energy at sea: energy from wind, tides and waves. In that context, a proprietary concept has been developed to investigate all aspects of offshore wave energy: the Greenwater Concept. During the lecture, the creator of this concept, Bas Buchner, will present the concept and the thoughts behind it. It will also be possible to visit MARIN's test facilities, such as the Deepwater Tank, Offshore Basin and Seakeeping and Manoeuvring Basin.
