Since 1847 — engineering towards 2047
On Wednesday 10 March 2027, Day of the Engineer took place at Eindhoven University of Technology. This year’s event centred on the theme ‘Since 1847 — engineering towards 2047’, and we celebrated KIVI’s 180th anniversary. Building on 180 years of engineering, the conference looked ahead to the engineering profession of 2047. The day centred on four themes: security and sovereignty; where the Netherlands needs to invest now; the role of engineers in policy and politics; and the impact of AI.

Who is Day of the Engineer for?
Engineers’ Day is for anyone interested in technical innovations – so certainly for engineers. You don’t need to have a specific qualification, be a KIVI member or be a student. Anyone interested in the theme – technology for a healthier world – is welcome! This event is a unique opportunity to meet people you know and those you don’t, and to exchange ideas. In 2027, the event will be conducted entirely in English for the first time.
