Huisman Equipment
This excursion began with a comprehensive lecture by Ir. Wouter Kuipers of Huisman, in which he introduced all of Huisman's business activities. Among other things, Huisman makes parts for ships and drilling platforms in various materials. In Schiedam in particular, the final finishing and assembly of parts produced in various countries takes place. Mr Kuipers also addressed the (technical) challenges posed by this dispersed supply chain. He then elaborated on some of his company's interesting products, which provided a nice bridge for the visit to the factory and outdoor area. Inside, welders were working on a large frame, while outside, some complete structures of substantial size and weight, such as cranes and platforms, could be admired. At the quay were several ocean-going vessels, on which these constructions had already been or would be mounted.
This excursion, too, can be assessed as very successful, judging by the members' reactions.
