This excursion consisted of a lecture by two employees of Breman Machinery, which took place in IJmond restaurant due to the lack of a reception area, and a visit to a quay where the "Mono-Pile Gripper Frame", built by Breman on behalf of Euro-Rigging, was set up.
This frame, measuring 30x25x26 metres and weighing 640 tonnes, is used in the installation of wind turbine foundations at sea. The "Mono-Pile Gripper Frame" keeps the foundations to be installed in the right place and at the right angle during pile driving. The frame consists of three major parts; one tower and two pieces of grippers. The two grippers hang at a certain distance above each other in the tower frame and, by means of guide wheels, are able to keep the foundation pile in the right place during pile driving. Besides keeping the pile in the right place, driven rotation wheels in the upper gripper allow the foundation pile to be rotated. Finally, to muffle the noise of pile driving, the "Mono-Pile Gripper Frame" is equipped with a sound-absorbing box that is placed around the foundation pile to be driven during pile driving.

Unfortunately, the adjacent work hall could not be visited, but the object itself could be viewed from all sides. The surrounding area also showed that IJmuiden has become an important port for off-shore activities.

Description

Breman Machinery is currently manufacturing a "Mono-Pile Gripper Frame" on behalf of Euro-Rigging. The "Mono-Pile Gripper Frame" with dimensions of 30x25x26 metres and a weight of 640 tonnes is used for the installation of wind turbine foundations at sea.
The "Mono-Pile Gripper Frame" keeps the foundations to be installed in the right place and at the right angle during the driving of the piles.
The frame consists of three large parts; one tower and two grippers. The two pieces of grippers hang at a certain distance above each other in the tower frame and, by means of guide wheels, are able to keep the foundation pile in the right place during pile driving.
In addition to keeping the pile in the right place, one can rotate the foundation pile by means of driven rotation wheels in the upper gripper.
Finally, to muffle the noise of pile driving, the "Mono-Pile Gripper Frame" is equipped with a sound-deadening box that is placed around the foundation pile to be driven during pile driving.
