Solid Works
KNS-Twente launched the SolidWorks workshop on 7 February, the first activity of the year 2013. The workshop was organised in collaboration with S.V.A.T. Astatine.
The SolidWorks workshop was highly sought after by Advanced Technology students, as they have to use this 3D CAD programme when creating models for their project. The workshop lasted all Thursday afternoon and, because of its importance to the students, was also scheduled. It was given by Ir. I.F. Lutters-Weustink.
Ms Lutters began with a short lecture in which she explained and demonstrated the basic skills of SolidWorks. A comprehensive reader was available for the students so that they could soon start working with the programme themselves. There was plenty of help for questions, Ms Lutters had asked a student from Industrial Design to assist during the activity. Through the activity, the students have now mastered the basics of the programme and can continue tinkering on their own to create good 3D models for their project.
With about 60 participants, the workshop was a successful activity! Hopefully the workshop can also be given to the new batch of Advanced Technology students next year.
Description
Short workshop description:
3D CAD systems are used in business/industry to model parts and assemblies. At UT, we have the SolidWorks system at our disposal.
During this workshop, you will learn the basics of the 3D CAD programme SolidWorks. Attention will be paid to 3D modelling of parts and (briefly) assembling various parts into small (moving) assemblies.
A manual will be used that can also be used after the afternoon, making it possible to work with the programme yourself and expand your modelling skills.
The workshop will be given by Ir. Ilanit Lutters-Weustink
