In December 2022 Ecowende won the tender to develop offshore wind farm Hollandse Kust West site 6. Ecowende’s winning bid commitment is that it will implement an extensive package of innovations that aim to minimise the negative and stimulate the positive impact of the wind farm on the local ecology of the North Sea: birds, bats, marine mammals, fish and benthic species. In doing so, Ecowende will close knowledge gaps related to the impact of the wind farm on the local ecology. Folkert Visser will zoom into some of these ecology measures and share some early insights and challenges in implementing the full wind farm scope.

Presenter: Folkert Visser, Project Director Ecowende
Folkert completed his master’s degree in Offshore Engineering from Delft University of Technology in 2002 and has since been working for BP and Shell on multiple large projects. He spent time in engineering offices across Europe, on an FPSO in the North Atlantic, at shipyards in South Korea and refineries in The Netherlands and Qatar. Folkert was Project Director during the tender phase for the Hollandse Kust West wind farms and, following the win of site 6 by Ecowende, he is now carrying on in that role in the Execution phase.

Prior to the Ecowende presentation the KIVI OT price for best graduation work 2024, will be awarded. The winner will be requested to present a short pitch of his winning graduation work.
