Introductie
Via een goede kennis hoorde ik dat zijn zoon Dr Patrick Klein actief was in de hartchirurgie en daarin heel veel technologische ontwikkelingen in dat vakgebied heeft plaats gevonden waaraan hij ook heeft bijgedragen. Dit zijn mijns inziens technologische ontwikkelingen waar wij als techneuten niet gauw in aanraking komen. Vandaar dat ik Patrick heb gevraagd om bij ons een lezing op zijn vakgebied te houden. Dit wilde hij graag doen. Ik ben ook heel benieuwd naar dit bijzondere aspect van de wetenschap en hoe dit bij ons zal overkomen.

Professional Profile Dr. P. Klein, MD PhD MSc
Experienced cardiothoracic surgeon currently working at the department of cardiothoracic surgery of the Amsterdam University Medical Center (Amsterdam UMC). Appointed Principal Investigator of the Amsterdam UMC since January 2025. Board member of the Dutch Association for Cardiothoracic Surgery (NVT) and incoming chairman. Former chairman of the department of cardiothoracic surgery of the St. Antonius Hospital in Nieuwegein the Netherlands and member of the executive management team of the St. Antonius Heart Centre. Personal experience: >2,750 cardiac surgical procedures with specific expertise in aortic surgery, reconstructive, complex and minimally invasive valve surgery, surgery for hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy, advanced heart failure surgery and mechanical circulatory support. PhD-thesis from Leiden University on “Left ventricular reconstruction in ischemic cardiomyopathy”, surgery for advanced heart failure. Special additional interests in medical leadership, logistic management and quality improvement programs. Author / co-author of 80 peer-reviewed scientific publications. Directly supervising research fields of minimal invasive aortic valve replacement (ZonMW grant and PhD-student), advanced-imaging in structural heart interventions (ZonMW grant and PhD-student), postcardiotomy cardiogenic shock and short term mechanical circulatory support (PhD-student). Reviewer for oa the European Heart Journal (EHJ), European Journal of Cardiothoracic Surgery (EJCTS), Interdisciplinary Journal of CardioVascular and Thoracic Surgery (ICVTS), Netherlands Heart Journal (NHJ) and Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC).

De borrel vangt aan om 18:00 uur aan en de maaltijd volgt stipt om 19:00 uur, waarna de lezing om 20:00 uur kan starten. Einde omstreeks 22:00 uur.
