Electrical Engineering in 2050
On January 19th, the Faculty of Electrical Engineering organized a Symposium on the future of Electrical Engineering, in cooperation with the universities of Delft and Twente, and with IEEE.
About 200 people visited the Symposium, giving it a flavor of eagerness towards future development in the field of Electrical Engineering.
On this page you'll find the presentations given on the symposium, links to a Cursor article on the symposium, to blogs of Roberto Saracco covering the symposium topic, and in due time also a summary of the panel discussion which concluded the event, will be found on the website of TUe Symposium on the Future of Electrical Engineering 2050. The presentations are also available with the links on the right.
We hope you continue the discussion as well as the exploration of the hidden possibilities of our field of engineering!

Omschrijving
The program of future research directions in Electrical Engineering is organised by the Dutch faculties of Electrical Engineering of Twente, Delft, Eindhoven and IEEE.
Afternoon program
Electrical Engineering in the Netherlands is growing. We attract an increasing amount of students and the areas in which Electrical Engineering is applied to solve problems, seem to expand limitless. What are we heading for in our profession? If we are to focus, what are the most crucial topics in which society can profit from our expertise? Which are the big technical hurdles we are about to encounter? And how are we going to address them?
The Dutch faculties of Electrical Engineering of Twente, Delft and Eindhoven and IEEE Benelux are organizing a Symposium to find answers to these questions, on January 19th, 2017, in Eindhoven
Attending the symposium is free, but we require registration.
Evening program
In the evening, the IEEE Benelux General Assembly will be held in the same location. The Section Chairperson, Bart Smolders, will give an introduction on the Benelux Section and on the proposed committee after which the official election will take place.
The General Assembly is followed by a ‘Meet the Fellows’ event. Three of the new Fellows elected in 2015 and 2016 will give a keynote talk and present their research fields and their evolutions to a wider audience.
At the end of the program, a reception will offer the attendees the opportunity to network.
Attending the IEEE event is free, but we require registration.
Bart Smolders, will give an introduction on the Benelux Section and on the proposed committee after which the official election will take place.
