Excursion to Gate LNG terminal
Omschrijving
Two years ago a general presentation was given to Kivi on the topic of LNG terminal development with as specific highlight the preparations of the Gate terminal in Rotterdam. This project was developed by Gasunie and Vopak in joint collaboration between 2005 and 2007 In december 2007 the Final Investment Decision was taken to build a 7,5 mtpa LNG import facility with 3 storage tanks of 180.000 cbm and one jetty (capable to accept up to Qmax LNG vessels). Mid 2008 this project was expanded with an increase in send-out capacity to some 10 mtpa and a second jetty (identical to jetty 1) when a fourth customer signed-up the extra capacity.
Now, some 3,5 years after the initial Investment decision the bulk of construction activities are completed, with overall progress well over 90%, and the terminal undergoing final construction activities and pre-commissioning works in preparation for testing due to start in June, and making the facilities ready for commercial operations towards the end of Q3 this year.
During the visit presentations will be given to recap on the preparation phase of the project, and of course highlights of the Engineering, Procurement, and Construction phase now nearing completion. A site tour will be made (by bus) to see the new world-class facility that will put Rotterdam on the map as a main element of the Dutch natural gas roundabout.
Please note that only 50 places are available. Once you are registered you will be asked to send your passport number to Vopak. You should bring your passport during the excursion.
