Available for: EngD and PhD students, Postdocs & industrial engineers

 COURSE CONTENT:

The three-day Hydrometallurgical Recycling of Critical Raw Materials Course, organised by NPT and ISPT, addresses the rising global demand for high-purity metals driven by the energy transition. This transition increases the need for materials used in construction, electrification, and high-grade precursors, mainly for batteries, electronics, magnets, superalloys, PV panels, and ceramics. Critical raw materials are obtained by both urban and ore mining. In the value chain from resource to endproducts, combinations of hydrometallurgical unit operations play a crucial role in purification and formulation.

The main topics of this course include:

  • Resources and chemistry
  • Leaching
  • Solvent extraction
  • Ion exchange
  • Precipitation
  • Membrane technologies
  • Electrowinning and cementation
