Omschrijving
75 Years of nuclear reactors: A chain reaction of applications
On December 2, 1942, Enrico Fermi and his co-workers succeeded in making the first man-made nuclear reactor critical. This reactor was a simple pile of uranium in graphite and produced virtually no fission power. However, soon after World War II nuclear fission reactors became a useful device for many applications and research. At this symposium, various speakers from The Netherlands and abroad will give an overview of important developments originating from this historical event. The language at the symposium will be mainly English.
