Karin Muller and Marc van Waasbergen delivered the evening lecture "New customers through Social Media" to over 20 interested participants on 14 January. Karin and Marc together form the company Effipreneur and offer SMEs and entrepreneurs a range of services in the field of Social Media. The importance of Social Media worked immediately through the figures Karin presented.

The added value of Social Media was explained by Karin and the online network LinkedIn was also discussed in depth. Tips were given on how to optimise a LinkedIn profile. Various technical issues regarding this were explained by Karin and Marc. It became clear that LinkedIn is a great tool for making contacts with new customers with the aim of coming to the table and converting the added value for the customer into a fruitful cooperation. Karin gave the example that by actively sharing interesting content with your target audience, you can become an interesting discussion partner. It's about relationship building with value. You do this by determining who your ideal customer is, looking through search to approach them and determining what content/value you have to offer.

The lecture was interactive and Karin and Marc answered many questions from participants. What became clear was that there was a huge difference in knowledge about "Social Media" among the participants. Some are already active with "Social Media" while others are not at all.

Besides explaining LinkedIn, the Twitter network, Social Media etiquette and supported tools were also discussed. Tips on setting up your LinkedIn profile can be found on Effipreneur 's website.

Given the interest in the topic, there will definitely be a follow-up on the Social Media topic. The board of the Department of Commercial Engineering thanks the participants for the active participation shown and of course Karin and Marc for hosting this interesting evening lecture which gave many pause for thought.
