North Sea Symposium

The North Sea Symposium brings professionals, researchers, policymakers, and innovators together around one central question: how can we jointly shape a future-proof North Sea? As the North Sea becomes increasingly vital for energy production, transport, defense, nature conservation, and emerging offshore innovations, the need for alignment, knowledge exchange, and collaboration continues to grow. This symposium, organised by the professional engineering association KIVI, and its partners, offers an inspiring platform where these perspectives meet and the Dutch perspective is discussed.

Over the course of an interactive afternoon, the programme addresses the different aspects of system integration highlighting synergies arising from collective solutions. A keynote on marine spatial planning sets the stage, followed by thematic sessions exploring policy direction and roadmaps, effective and safe use of the Dutch part of the North Sea, and responsible, nature-inclusive approaches to leaving the North Sea for future generations. Technical presentations, short pitches, and a concluding panel discussion provide both depth and dialogue, while the fully plenary format encourages a shared experience and broad exchange of ideas.

Beyond the content, the symposium is designed as a place to connect. The welcome lunch, coffee break, and closing networking reception create opportunities to build relationships, strengthen collaborations, and spark new initiatives. Inspiration drawn from real-world case studies, policy developments, and nature enhancement initiatives ensures a programme that connects vision with practice.

Together, we set course towards a sustainable, safe, and well-integrated North Sea. We warmly invite you to join the conversation.
