Omschrijving

In early 2013, a novel type of heavy transport vessel entered the transport market. This vessel, the Dockwise Vanguard, has a loadcarrying capacity that is almost double that of the existing dry transport vessels in the world and allows dry transport of complete FPSOs and dry- docking of FPSOs for maintenance, repair, and inspection services. In the latter case, the FPSO remains in the field connected to its turret mooring system.
Schedule improvement and risk mitigation are key drivers to consider dry transport over wet tow of FPSOs and other large cargoes.
Both drivers are presented in a quantitative way compared to the conventional wet tow solution. The DW Vanguard has already received four dry transport orders from the industry and, at the time of the lecture, we would like to share the success and lessons learned.
With the increased presence of FPSOs in remote areas, having a lacking support infrastructure, mobile dry-docking support for FPSOs becomes more and more of interest. During off-hire dry transport periods, but without compromising the maintenance and surveying scope, the flexibility of the DW Vanguard for FPSO maintenance operations will be highlighted.
