EngD Community

Highlighting the EngD programme’s distinctive contribution to the Dutch innovation ecosystem through advanced engineering, industry collaboration, and impact-driven research & development.
What is EngD - Engineering Doctorate?
The EngD (Engineering Doctorate) is a doctoral-level programme for post-master graduates, distinct from a PhD in its focus. While a PhD prepares researchers for academic careers, the EngD is designed to develop engineering leaders for high-impact roles in industry. The EngD programme has a duration of two years, compared to four years for a PhD.
All EngD programmes are offered under 4TU.SAI (Stan Ackermans Institute), a joint initiative of the Dutch Universities of Technology, with Wageningen University & Research and the University of Groningen as associated partners. Today, the EngD community includes over 4,000 alumni and around 500 trainees nationwide.
