Highlights of the 20th World Petroleum Congress Qatar
Last December the 20th World Petroleum Congress (WPC) was held in Doha, Qatar. The World Petroleum Congress is organized every three years and brings together the leading experts and decision makers of the global oil and gas sector to review the industry and future trends. The Qatar WPC was held over five days with more than 4000 delegates, 600 media and 550 presenters. It covered all aspects of the industry from technological advances in upstream and downstream operations, to the role of natural gas, renewable and complementary energy, the management of the industry and its social, economic and environmental impact. The theme of the 20th WPC was: Energy Solutions for All: Promoting Cooperation, Innovation and Investment.
The Oil and Gas section from KIVI NIRIA is connected to the WPC since 1933 and has the tradition to present the highlights of the WPC to its members. We are proud to present three key speakers who are prepared to share the highlights of the 20th WPC with us.

Mr. Nieuwenhuizen will give an introduction of WPC and a summary of the main messages from the 20th WPC: the political and strategical perspectives, the main issues discussed, messages from the key-note addresses etc.
Stuart Clayton, Vice President Hydrocarbon Recovery Technologies, Shell
One of the thematic areas of the conference was Enhanced Oil Recovery. Mr. Clayton will give an overview of global developments in this area and will present Shell’s perspective on EOR.
Roelof Heezen, Vice President Downstream Technologies, Shell
Mr. Heezen will discuss the downstream subjects: refinery trends, bio fuels, new chemical processes, etc.
