Making Tight Gas Work
Omschrijving
Higher gas prices and significant technological advances have led to a dramatic increase in production of unconventional gas resources in recent years in North America.
By 2020, more than 60% of US gas production and more than 40 % of Canadian gas is expected to come from unconventional gas reservoirs according to some energy experts. The strive towards unconventional gas has also started outside NA.
Unconventional gas reservoirs require unique or technologically advanced drilling and completion techniques and development approaches which are significantly different from conventional reservoirs in order to achieve economic rates.
Oil and gas companies have been able to leverage technology developments pioneered in the 1970s together with the service industry to position themselves in the vanguard of unconventional hydrocarbon exploitation.
The presentation tries to give some pointers from a Tight Gas operator’s perspective of what are key and emerging tight gas technical and non-technical drivers and what are the remaining challenges.
This presentation will be in English.
