Omschrijving

An unique opportunity to visit the new build Shell Technology Centre Amsterdam (STCA) and listen to Gerald Schotman, the Executive Vice President Innovation/R&D of Shell.

In the new, innovative working environment the 1200 Shell researchers and lab technicians are constantly working on improving, renewing and cleaning up fuels and chemical products and their production processes. As part of Shell Global Solutions and as one of Shell’s four major research centers worldwide, STCA supports customers who are grappling with energy issues by means of services in the fields of technology support, consultancy and research.

Shell Technology Centre Amsterdam is opened in September 2009 and must become a location that manifests the position of Shell and Technology to the outside world. An attractive place to work for employees, young talent, customers and partners in Research & Development.

The design philosophy of the new building is based on the business principle of sustainability, with the objective of systematically minimizing overall costs. Another aim is to aid the targets of reducing CO2 emissions by Shell’s own operational activities.

The new building is CO2 neutral. Barely any natural gas is used. The temperature is controlled by a control concept, based on the underground storage of thermal energy in combination with heat pumps. The electricity for these pumps comes from the wind parks in the North Sea, that Shell set up together with NUON.

The move from old to new locations is the most complex industrial relocation ever conducted in the Netherlands.
