Omschrijving

Liquid Gold - Securing drinking water

Safe drinking water is a valuable commodity that will become increasingly sparse. One in six people have no access to safe drinking water. This is a major cause of disease and inhibits economic growth. Representatives from Brabant Water, and Join the Pipe explain how they try to tackle a problem that is as local as it is global.

Speakers:

Marc van Hal (Accountmanager, Brabant Water) will discuss drinking water in the Netherlands, specifically in the province of Brabant, from a historical perspective. He will explain the mission of Brabant Water and give examples of important and relevant projects in the Netherlands.
His colleague Tico Michels MSc. (Programme Manager International Projects, Brabant Water) will discuss international projects of Brabant Water (for example in Benin).

Sven Driessen (Join the Pipe) will explain the Join the Pipe-project. Discuss drinking water problems in the world (including in the Netherlands), specific problems in Afrika (healthy drinking water and a good supply are no matter of course), the sustainability ambition, and different steps in problem solving: from tackling problems in the Netherlands to tackling problems in developing countries (also related problems like the big amount of plastic waste and obesity).
