Nuclear communication in Internet Era
Omschrijving
The working language of the symposium will be English
On May 25, 2012, the Dutch association for engineers and engineering students KIVI NIRIA, section Nuclear Engineering is organizing a symposium on communication and debate on nuclear energy in Europe. This theme became topical again with the Fukushima disaster. The afternoon consists of two parts: a part of presentations and a workshop part.
Two speakers from nuclear industrial for a will illustrate how their organisations cope with this problem. A speaker of the independent British think tank Chatham House will give his vision on the interaction between industry and public on this topic, and the nuclear youth association Young Generation will explain how they search for both communication and debate.
The second part is an interactive workshop in which the participants are shown the way in a number of social media to participate in the nuclear debate as an individual. The workshop will be organized by Robert Vos, an expert in social media. He will first give an introduction, followed by an interactive tour on the smartphone, tablet or laptop. When registering for the symposium one can indicate whether one is active on social media, and whether one will take a smartphone, tablet or laptop to the event. Two weeks in advance of the symposium a discussion on a nuclear topic will be started on the social network LinkedIn. All participants will receive an email with explanation and the possibility to register and participate to the LinkedIn discussion. During the workshop, Robert Vos will report on this.
If you have no possibility for online registration, please call the secretariat of the Section Nuclear Engineering in Petten on ++31 224 56 4114.
