Arctic Engineering
Omschrijving
The Sakhalin II Project, offshore Sakhalin Island, comprises the development of two fields: Piltun-Astokhskoye and Lunskoye. Both fields were discovered in the 1980’s and hold large volumes of oil and gas. During phase 1 of this project, the Molikpaq caisson was purchased and then modified for use as a drilling and production platform. The second phase of the project consists of the development of two new concrete gravity base structure platforms that have a caisson base and four cylindrical legs that support the topsides.
The three platforms are designed for year-round operation in harsh climatic conditions and have to withstand high environmental loading as result of rough seas, severe ice and high seismic activity. The platforms were intensively instrumented in order to monitor ice pressures, platform displacements, deck accelerations, etc. It was recognized that the Sakhalin platforms provide a unique opportunity to learn more about ice loads and ice effects in full scale.
The presentation will first focus on the design assumptions/solutions followed by evaluation of the measured ice loads and the accompanying platform response.
