Falling Down Safely
Omschrijving
Free fall lifeboats are a primary strategy for evacuation in the offshore industry. Evacuation is done by releasing the manned boat from a platform at a height of 20 m to 40 m. MARIN has been working for the last five years on a method for assessing if free fall lifeboats, with their entire crew, can safely get away from the platform. On board measurements, model tests and simulations form the basis of this method. Ingo Drummen will explain this method and MARIN’s involvement in lifeboats.
