Installation of Wind Turbines in the Emerging US Market (GustoMSC)
Over the past years the US has taken huge strides towards the establishment of a large Offshore Wind Market, with over 22 GW of state commitments and 9 GW of awarded projects. However, to date only 30 MW has been installed and 12 MW is under construction. How to install turbines on the US east coast without an existing offshore industry, suitable ports, suitable installation vessels while meeting federal requirements is not a trivial question to answer. The US Jones Act requires locally built, owned and operated vessels to transport components in US waters.
GustoMSC will discuss the market characteristics, possible transport & installation solutions and associated challenges from its perspective as a design, engineering & equipment company.
Speaker: Karel Wagner, Sales Manager at GustoMSC (a NOV Company).
