In the fourth quarter of 2016, the French government selected a proposal from EDF Energies Nouvelles for the delivery of a demonstration projects comprising three floating wind turbines of 8 MW each, to be installed in the Mediterranean sea offshore Marseille. The proposal of EDF EN is based on floating substructures of the TLP-type, developed by SBM Offshore in collaboration with the IFP EN, a French Research institute in the field of wind energy. SBM Offshore will design, build and install the floating structures, supporting Siemens 8 MW turbines. In the presentation SBM Offshore will explain the design of their floating wind concept, but also tell more about the realization of the overall project, called Provence Grand Large.
