Engineer of the Year 2013
Pieter Kool

Pieter Kool is Engineer of the Year 2013
Pieter Kool, Head 3D Design at G-Star Raw, was named Engineer of the Year 2013 during Engineer's Day. Pieter is - at first glance - an atypical engineer. More artist than technician, according to the jury.
Pieter is able to transfer knowledge and skills from the complex engineering world to that of fashion. He has a clear vision and possesses connecting communication skills. He shows the beauty and function of pure technology in an inspiring environment.
His natural charisma has tremendous authenticity and thus his passion to 'make technology visible' comes across powerfully. In his work, he demonstrates the power of engineering through technical solutions and brings it to people on a daily basis.
As Engineer of the Year, Pieter Kool was also appointed ambassador for the Technology Pact. It is important to show young people what great careers a technical study offers. pieter Kool and also the two other nominees are perfectly suited to make this visible. The Techniekpact is currently being drafted and must meet the challenge of getting more people interested in engineering.

The two other nominees for the Engineer of the Year 2013
Stefan Aarninkhof, Senior engineer/Program manager at Royal Boskalis Westminster NV.
Joost Visser, Head of Research at Software Improvement Group.
