KIVI likes to make the impact of engineering and the important role that (aspiring) engineers play in this visible
We do this by presenting a number of prestigious prizes and awards to outstanding engineers, innovative student teams or institutions that have made a significant contribution to making engineering and science transparent and accessible. In order to highlight their pioneering work and inspiring achievements.
Prince Friso Engineer Prize
The Prins Friso Ingenieursprijs is awarded annually to an engineer who stands out in terms of expertise, innovative capacity, social impact and entrepreneurship. With the award, KIVI puts the engineers of the future and the engineering profession in the spotlight.
KIVI Engineering Student Team Award
The KIVI Engineering Student Team Award is an incentive prize for engineering student teams meant to give future engineers a boost, show what they are capable of as a team and give greater exposure to their innovative projects.
KIVI EngD Award
The KIVI EngD Award recognises the outstanding achievements of EngD graduates who combine scientific rigour with real-world impact. Finalists for this award have demonstrated excellence in applying advanced engineering knowledge to solve complex industrial and societal challenges.
Conrad's Premium
The prestigious Conrad's Premium was established by ir F.W. Conrad Jr, co-founder of KIVI, after his death and is awarded once every five years if possible. The prize consists of a certificate, a gold-plated medal and a cash sum of (now) about two thousand euros.
KIVI Performance Award
Recognition and study support for top students.
The KIVI Department of Computer Science is proud to launch the annual KIVI Performance Award. Second-year students of Technical Computer Science and Technical Mathematics (WO, start academic year 2024-2025) are eligible to reward their exceptional study results, thus making their academic commitment visible.
Awards within KIVI
KIVI honours its most dedicated and influential members with special awards. From honorary members, to holders of the KIVI Medal of Honour and Members of Merit. As a token of appreciation for their special contribution to engineering, the engineering profession and/or the association.
Fellow Chartered Engineer
The Fellow Chartered Engineer (FCE) is the highest and most prestigious professional award that the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI) can bestow on an engineer. This title testifies not only to outstanding professional competence, but also to a lasting impact on the engineering profession and a highly valuable contribution to society.
KIVI honorary members
With the prestigious honorary membership, KIVI rewards individuals who make exceptional contributions to engineering in the Netherlands and abroad.
KIVI Medal of Honour
Members who have exceptionally contributed to the growth and development of KIVI over many years are eligible for the honourable KIVI Medal of Honour.
KIVI Member of Merit
Members who have meant a lot to a particular section of KIVI are honoured as Member of Merit by that section.
