Certification Commission for Training of Technological Designers (CCTO)

CCTO: Certification and quality assurance of postgraduate design courses

The Nederlandse Certificatie Commissie voor opleidingen tot Technologisch Ontwerper CCTO certifies two-year postgraduate programmes that, upon graduation, entitle students to hold the degree of Engineering Doctorate (EngD). Certification of programmes is done periodically, based on the findings of assessment committees set up by the CCTO.

Composition CCTO

CCTO is composed as follows:

a. Two professors from each of the Universities of Technology
b. Two members of the Royal Institute of Engineers (KIVI)
c. One representative from the employers' organisation VNO-NCW

In addition to two members in the CCTO, KIVI provides the CCTO and the assessment committees with an executive secretary. KIVI also maintains the register of technology designers.

The composition of CCTO will change in 2025. KIVI will no longer be part of this composition.
