Day of the New Engineers
20 November 2026

On 20 November 2026, KIVI and The New Engineers will organise the first ever Day of the New Engineers at KIVI in The Hague. A day that will enable you to take a big step towards a job in engineering.
Be introduced to the world of engineering
An inspiring and connecting event that brings together young engineers, trainees and lateral entrants around the key question: "How do we develop the skills needed for tomorrow's engineering?"
Combining knowledge, inspiration and encounters, the event aims to contribute to a future-proof engineering sector in which young talent flourishes, connections emerge and everyone grows further, both professionally and personally.
The day is in line with the mission of both The New Engineers and KIVI to develop talent, connect people and harness technology for a better society.

New perspectives in a changing sector
Engineering faces far-reaching societal challenges, from energy transition to mobility and infrastructure. Traditional recruitment and training routes are no longer sufficient to meet these challenges.
The sector needs fresh thinkers, diverse backgrounds and new ways to develop talent. This is exactly what The New Engineers' approach aims to do: seeing people for their potential, not just diplomas, and linking them to a practice-oriented learning-work route together with education and companies.
Professional development and social impact
KIVI offers several LLO pathways under the heading 'Engineer Careers'. Engineers are supported in their careers and encouraged to use technology for societal improvements. The association facilitates networking, knowledge exchange, and stimulates innovation and professional growth, all elements that are also central during this day.
The Day of the New Engineer ties in directly with this by providing participants with a platform where they:
- Get in touch with professionals, companies and knowledge institutions
- Gain new knowledge and insights
- Strengthen skills that are essential for the future of engineering
