  • I am a student. Am I eligible for a discount on my membership fee?

Yes, anyone pursuing full-time engineering/technical studies (college or university) is eligible for KIVI student membership. Send a copy of your college card and/or current proof of enrollment to ledenadministratie@kivi.nl. You will soon receive an (adjusted) invoice. The membership fee is € 23.50 per year. • I am an AIO/PhD student. Am I eligible for a discount on my membership fee?

Yes, AIOs/PhD students are eligible for a discount on regular membership. Please send a copy of your appointment to ledenadministratie@kivi.nl. You will soon receive an (adjusted) invoice. The membership fee is € 47.50 per year.

  • I live with another KIVI member at the same address. Am I eligible for a discount on my membership fee?

Yes, if you live with another member at the same address and want to receive only one copy of De Ingenieur magazine together with that member, you can apply for a discount of € 85,= on the membership fee of either of you. The condition is that you both have regular and/or senior memberships. The discount is applied to the dues of either member and applies for the period that both members live at the same address. If a membership starts during the year and the above discount is granted, it will be prorated. Please send an email to ledenadministratie@kivi.nl stating both of your names, membership numbers and common address, to inform which name /membership number the discount should be calculated by.

  • From what age do I qualify for senior discount?

You are eligible for the senior rate from the year you turn 68. This rate is granted to you automatically. You do not have to take any action for this. The membership rate is € 136.50 per year.

Cancellation / transfer

  • How do I cancel my membership?

KIVI membership is valid until written resignation. Send your cancellation before December 1, and your membership will end at the end of the current year. We will send confirmation of cancellation after we have received full dues for the current year.

Please note: if you cancel after December 1 of the current year, you will still owe dues for the entire next year and your cancellation will take effect after the end of the next year.

You can cancel your membership in writing, stating your membership number and reason for cancellation, by email ledenadministratie@kivi.nl or by mail:

    KIVI
    t.a.v. Ledenadministratie
    Postbus 30424
    2500 GK Den Haag

  • Can someone else, such as my employer, cancel my membership?

A KIVI membership is personal and, as a rule, can only be terminated by you. An exception is if you are a member of a collective membership arranged by your employer. In that case your membership ends when you leave employment, or upon termination of the collective membership.

  • I have left my employer, can my membership be transferred to a colleague's name?

No, a KIVI membership is personal and cannot be transferred to a colleague's name. Of course, your colleague can apply for a KIVI membership themselves. They can do so here.

Payments

  • To what account number can I transfer the KIVI membership fee?

Please transfer the membership fee to IBAN: NL69 INGB 0005 0965 16. The name of the account owner is “KIVI” in The Hague.

  • I did not receive an invoice by mail, but am a KIVI member

KIVI members whose e-mail address is known to us will receive the invoice by e-mail.

  • Why do I get the invoice by e-mail?

KIVI sends its members a cost breakdown of the personally determined dues by e-mail. To members who have indicated to prefer a written invoice, the invoice will be sent by mail. If we have a specific billing address, the invoice will also be sent by mail. Do you prefer a paper invoice? Send an email to the membership administration: ledenadministratie@kivi.nl

Please note that KIVI charges a fee for sending a paper invoice.

  • Can I receive an invoice with VAT?

Unfortunately this is not possible. The KIVI membership is exempt of VAT.

Direct debit

  • Can I pay my KIVI membership fee by direct debit?

Of course! We would greatly appreciate it if you would pay by direct debit. That way you are always on time with your payments and you avoid reminder costs. Your direct debit saves KIVI a lot of time, time that is preferably spent on other activities that benefits our members.

Your direct debit saves KIVI a lot of time, time that is preferably spent on other activities.

Please note: direct debit is only possible from a Dutch bank account.

Download the authorization form here and send it to the KIVI membership administration, by e-mail: ledenadministratie@kivi.nl of by mail:

    KIVI

After issuing the authorization, KIVI will collect your contribution around January 25 of the new membership year. A second and final round of collections will follow at the end of April. If you subsequently become a member and issue an authorization, you will pay the current year's dues manually and KIVI will collect automatically starting in the coming year. Do you disagree with the direct debit? Then you have the option to cancel the direct debit within eight weeks. Before the start of a new membership year you will receive a cost specification of your personally determined membership fee.

  • When will the pre-authorized debit be collected?

Annual dues are collected around January 25. A second and final round of collections follows at the end of April.

  • Is it also possible to have dues collected by monthly direct debit?

The membership fee is collected just once a year.

Invoice / payment reminder / double payment

  • I received an email about the membership fee for the upcoming year. The attachment was missing. How can I still obtain it?

Did you receive an email but no attachment? If so, do not check your mail via ‘Mail for Windows 10’ or another mail program. Instead, look directly at the server in your mailbox. Often, you will find the attachment there. If you do not find the attachment, please email ledenadministratie@kivi.nl, and we will resend the invoice with the attachment.

  • I recently received an invoice on the membership fee. I now received a second invoice. What shall I do?

KIVI determines your membership fee per calendar year. Let’s say you have become a member during this current year. This means that your contribution will be determined proportionally (for example, if you became a member in August, only September to December of the year will be charged). In November, the contribution for the following year will be determined. Each member will receive a new contribution invoice. For this example this would mean that you could receive two membership invoices shortly after each other.

  • I received a payment reminder, though I have already paid the membership fee.

Please send your proof of payment by e-mail to the KIVI member administration at ledenadministratie@kivi.nl.

  • I accidentally paid the membership fee twice. How can I get my money back?

If you accidentally paid your membership fee twice, then KIVI will refund the payment automatically to your bank account. This takes up to 4 weeks. Do you have any further questions on this topic? Please contact the financial administration via financieleadministratie@kivi.nl.

Membership of a section

  • What are the costs of the membership of a section?

Membership of two sections is included in the KIVI membership fee. Would you like to join more sections, that’s possible. We’ll charge € 2.50 per additional section.

  • I would like to become a member of (another) section. What do I need to do?

Log in to www.kivi.nl with your personal login credentials. Click on your profile picture/name and select 'Profiel & Instellingen'. Go to 'Lidmaatschap' and under 'Afdelingen', modify the departments you want to be a member of.

Others

  • Is it possible to be a KIVI member without receiving De Ingenieur magazine?

Unfortunately this is not possible. Of course we can stop sending you  De Ingenieur, but this does not affect the amount of your membership fee.

Students and members under the age of 31 only receive De Ingenieur as a digital magazine and can also receive the paper version by sending an email to ledenadministratie@kivi.nl. The costs for sending are € 17,50 per year.

  • I am a KIVI member and I experience unwanted/cross-border behavior from a fellow member. Where can I file my complaint?

First of all, how incredibly annoying for you. Here you will find more information about the KIVI Complaints Procedure, which was created to ensure a healthy and safe environment for all members of the association.
