New Years’ Network Event
New year’s network event KIVI Kring Caribbean – Aruba and the program of activities for 2023
On Thursday the 26th of January 2023 KIVI Kring Caribbean – Aruba held its new year’s network event, where about 10 participants were present. While enjoying drinks and snacks the Board gave a short overview of the past activities since the first one in November 2021.

During this presentation Diego Acevedo updated the participants on his PhD research work on the SISSTEM project titled “Valorization of Reverse Osmosis brine” which was presented in March 2022 at an activity of KIVI Kring Caribbean - Aruba at the University of Aruba. Interesting is to hear that Diego’s target is to finalize his PhD research in August 2023.
The program of activities for the first half of 2023 was also presented. It was decided by the Board to hold these activities on the last Thursdays of the month except in the vacation period, being July and August.
As it is planned now the 2023 half year program is as follows:
1. Thursday the 23rd of February 2023 a presentation by Dr. Gregory Fun A Fat on the United Nations Agenda 2030 Sustainable Development Goal 2 Zero Hunger
2. Thursday 30th of March 2023 Ing. E. Lampe will talk about artificial intelligence or AI
3. In April 2023 a visit to the Airport of Aruba (AAA) is planned where its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) and sustainable development will be discussed.
4. On the 25th of May 2023 Jan van Haren is giving a talk on Post Pandemic ventilation practices in buildings
5. And finally on the 29th of June 2023 a presentation by Mrs. Tatiana Becker, MsC on environmental monitoring within the framework of Resembid project, Surfside Science.
In between the Board plans to have some webinars on hydrogen and windfarms on – and offshore. These will be announced to as soon as planned.
The Board is also proud to announce that Mr. Mark Thomas, the United Nations Finance Officer on Partnerships and Development for Trinidad & Tobago, Aruba, Curaçao and St. Maarten, is willing to give a presentation to our members on the progress of the implementation of the UN Agenda 2030 Sustainable Goals and Targets by aforementioned Small Islands States (SIDs). This special presentation will be announced later.

KIVI Kring Caribbean – Aruba is proud to announce that the KIVI Kring Caribbean - Curaçao soon will be established. The Board of the Curaçao KIVI Kring Caribbean consists of dr. ir. Richenel Bulbaai, dean and associated Professor at the University of Curaçao, ing. Jason Smit, MsC (Aqualectra), ing. Andy Koeyers and ing. Mairondy Bodak. KIVI Kring Caribbean – Aruba welcomes our section in Curaçao and wish all the best in their work.
Accessibility to webinars organized by other sections within KIVI
KIVI Kring Caribbean – Aruba is also cooperating with the KIVI professional section electric engineering to share their announcements on webinars organized by that section. As part of our goal in sharing knowledge and experience the board decided to approach all other professional sections within KIVI to get digital access to such events.

KIVI Kring Caribbean – Aruba encourages all members or other interested engineers to approach the board when someone wants to share his / her knowledge and expertise on a technical issue. The board is willing to take such a request in its program of activities. Interested individuals can do this by sending an email to kringcaribbean@kivi.nl.

New Years’ Network Event of the Royal Netherlands Society of Engineers in the Caribbean (KIVI Kring Caribbean-Aruba)
KIVI Kring Caribbean – Aruba hereby invites all engineers in Aruba to attend its first activity of 2023, which is a social network event. During this event the board of KIVI Kring Caribbean – Aruba wants to take a moment to reflect on the activities it organized in the year 2022 and presents its plan of activities for the year 2023. The board also wants to take the opportunity to present its new board member.
This network event will be held at Flor di Oriente, Kerkstraat, Oranjestad from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday the 26th of January 2023. The costs for drinks and snacks are for your own account.

History:
The KIVI Kring Caribbean – Aruba started in October 2021. Our goal is to create a network of Engineers in Aruba and other Dutch Caribbean islands and to transfer knowledge to our KIVI members living in the Caribbean. We want to achieve this by organizing various activities such as conferences, webinars, lectures, field trips and networking events.
