Role of Hydrogen in the Energy Transition – challenges related to the Development of the H2 value chain
Unfortunately we have to inform you that this presentation has been canceled due to unforeseen circumstances
The Society of Engineers KIVI organizes its fourth activity in this year which is a presentation given by Mr. Taco Hoencamp from Royal HaskoningDHV with headquarters in Amersfoort, the Netherlands.
The title of his presentation is “Role of Hydrogen in the Energy Transition – challenges related to the Development of the H2 value chain”
Worldwide Hydrogen is considered one of the alternatives as an energy source. The EU Commission even published its hydrogen strategy for a climate-neutral Europe in which it is stated that Hydrogen is enjoying a renewed and rapidly growing attention in Europe and around the world. Hydrogen can be used as a feedstock, a fuel or an energy carrier and storage, and has many possible applications across industry, transport, power and buildings sectors. Most importantly, it does not emit CO2 and almost no air pollution when used.
The Netherlands’ Climate Agreement of 2019 specifically mentions the role of hydrogen as an energy source for future. The aim is to focus as much as possible on green hydrogen, mainly on the basis of electrolysis produced from sustainable electricity, but also based on biogenic raw materials, if produced sustainably.Â
In the current program of the Government of Aruba for the years 2021 – 2025 it is stated that Aruba has to reduce its dependency from using oil as the energy source while being in transition to more alternative sustainable energy sources like the sun and wind, and so moving into the direction to introduce hydrogen as an energy source or carrier.
Taco Hoencamp of Royal HaskoningDV is presenting his experience in feasibility studies of large scale blue and green hydrogen production projects. His presentation is about the role of hydrogen in the energy transition.

Who is Taco Hoencamp?
Taco Hoencamp MSc is a senior international project manager of the Energy & Environment Advisory Group of Royal HaskoningDHV and involved worldwide in energy and energy transition projects of Industry parties for more than 30 years. Including more than 8 years experience in APAC when based in Thailand. He has a Master degree in Water Management and working on technical, environmental, safety and stakeholder issues. He is active in early stage project developments in which renewable energy, geothermal heat, electrification and hydrogen options are assessed for industry decarbonization and CO2 emission reduction. Since 2021 he is board member and lead for Energy and Industry of the Dutch H2 Platform.
The last years he is involved in feasibility studies and ESIA’s of large scale blue and green hydrogen production projects. And gained a good insight into the technical concepts, the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead for this new form of energy in the future energy system. In the context of market consultations and studies, he gained insights in the conditions how potential offtakers could use hydrogen. This concerns technical, economic, social and safety preconditions.
KIVI KRING Caribbean invites all engineers to attend this presentation given by Royal HaskoningDHV, which is a world leader in consultancy enhancing our live on Aruba by sharing its expertise on the road towards the generation of hydrogen and helping the realization of the Aruban decarbonization objectives in future.
