Piping Engineering – Basic Module
Would you like to build a solid foundation in piping engineering or further deepen your knowledge? In collaboration with the Belgian engineering association ie-net, KIVI offers this practical training course. Over the course of eleven days of tuition, you will gain a comprehensive overview of the key aspects of piping engineering, with theory and practice constantly interwoven.
The course has been developed in collaboration with industry experts and is aligned with current industry practice. In addition to theoretical knowledge, you will work on a practical exercise throughout the course, which serves as a common thread running through the various modules.
Who is it for?
This course is intended for:
- Piping engineers and piping designers;
- Work planners and procurement officers;
- Technical managers responsible for piping engineering.
The course is relevant for professionals in sectors including the (petro)chemical, food, pharmaceutical, water distribution and treatment, and metal industries.
No specific prior knowledge is required for the basic module. However, an interest in industrial piping applications is recommended.
Programme
The basic module consists of 11 sessions running from 10 September to 3 December 2026. Topics covered include:
- Introduction to piping engineering and project documentation;
- Materials and piping components;
- Construction codes;
- Piping design and layout;
- Pipe classes;
- Stress analysis, flexibility and supports;
- PED certification and inspections;
- Procurement and cost engineering;
- Process safety;
- Failure mechanisms;
- Welding in piping;
- Seals.
The programme also includes a company visit.
Practical Information
Dates: Thursday afternoons from 10 September to 3 December 2026
Times:
- Reception with lunch from 12.00;
- Classes from 1.00 pm to 5.30 pm (including a break).
On 29 October, there will be a company visit with a different programme.
