Geothermal energy at Andijk
In the period 2017-2018, a heat network and Geothermal power plant plus wells serving greenhouse horticulture were realised in Andijk. This marks a major step towards making greenhouse horticulture area Het Grootslag more sustainable. At ECW GEO Andijk, hot water of about 80 degrees Celsius is extracted from wells at a depth of about 2000 metres. The heat is transported via a 7km-long network of pipelines to 11 glasshouse horticulture businesses, providing 40% of their heat requirements. A unique cooperation between the glasshouse horticulture companies and ECW was set up for this project. Wim Bos of Energie Combinatie Wieringmeer will give a talk on this project and will discuss geothermal energy and utilisation, and the various aspects involved.
