Engineering in sustainability.
Description
What is sustainable procurement
For those who want to know what sustainable procurement is, there are several management books available. Sustainable procurement in practice is often perceived as much more difficult. Where do the responsibilities lie and what can be influenced?
When it comes to sustainability, three phases in a product cycle can be defined:
- The first phase is the production phase.
- The second phase has to do with the use of the product.
- The third phase has to do with the end of the life cycle.
The second phase has a direct impact on a company's existing operations and costs and therefore easier to validate, right?
The questions that come up when choosing the right products then have to do with, for example, energy consumption, lubricant consumption, etc. Is this corporate social responsibility or does this have to do with "total cost of ownership"?
Sustainable procurement in practice can sometimes be much simpler than we think!
