The supply of shale gas in the Netherlands is small and the risks in extraction are high. Does extraction of shale gas pay off under these conditions?
The battle surrounding shale gas decision-making has erupted. Supporters and opponents are flying into each other's hair. Supporters hold out great promises, opponents shield us with doomsday scenarios. Is the shale gas apocalypse really near or are we missing a huge opportunity if we do not drill? Could American conditions arise? Does shale gas mean a new Slochteren?
These aspects will be discussed in the lecture.
