In the Alblasserwaard and Vijfheerenlanden region, a large number of regional flood defences do not meet the new standards.

Financially a major challenge. This means taking a broader view, including if you were to design the area now and how you would do that.

And then immediately include future-oriented up to 2050, climate adaptation, recreation, drainage system and water supply.

By involving the board in this from the outset and allowing them to help choose, a supported vision was created
with a horizon to 2050, with the possibility to make adjustments along the way.

The total financial task is now more, but then the total water system will also be in order.
