Description

Passive house, the new building standard in the Netherlands?

The targets for housing construction are ambitious. By 2020, we want to achieve energy-neutral new-builds and 30% energy savings in the existing housing stock. One of the concepts that responds to this is the Passive House.

A Passive House is a comfortable and very energy-efficient home. The Passive House concept does not describe a building style or design, but stands for a certain quality, which can be applied to both residential and non-residential construction, new construction and renovation. The Passive House concept is not entirely new in the Netherlands, but compared to countries such as Austria, Switzerland, Germany and Sweden, the concept is still in its infancy here.

The presentation by Ruud Geerligs, project manager at SBR, discusses the objectives, starting points, challenges and solutions of Passive Houses in the Netherlands
