Volcanic Naples: between glowing clouds and burning fields
Italy has traditionally been familiar with the dangers of erupting volcanoes. This is especially true of the region around Naples, where nearly a million people live today. Threats come not only from Vesuvius but especially from the Phlegrean Fields where gigantic eruptions have taken place in the past. This presentation highlights the volcanic history of this region, the current unrest, possible dangers in the future and the significance of Italian volcanism as a CO2 producer.
