The field of maintenance is constantly evolving.

Ever since the establishment of our specialist department in 2012, we have been appealing to a broad audience from different markets, including food, infrastructure, industry and utilities. The market has also evolved. Whereas we used to talk about management and maintenance and upkeep of an asset, nowadays people increasingly look at the total effort for the entire life cycle for the service provider, asset owner and asset manager: in other words, asset management has become an increasingly prominent part of maintenance....
Why asset management and maintenance influence each other
Both disciplines help keep processes, systems, buildings, infrastructure, plants, equipment and production assets in the right condition to support organisational objectives.
The interface between asset management and maintenance demarcates what variables play a role in: identifying the risks when an asset fails, what competences maintenance staff need, what level of quality is necessary and how to deal with lifecycle aspects. This is the reason why the name of the KIVI Maintenance Department has been renamed Asset Management & Maintenance as of 2022.
We enjoy collaborating with other subject departments, which also deal with asset management or maintenance. For example, in 2021 we organised an online event together with Tunnel Engineering and Underground Works (TTOW), discussing the maintenance approach of 3 tunnel projects in the Netherlands. Finally, you can already see from our founding year, that we are 10 years old this year. We will celebrate this lustrum together on 12 May. Students, other department members and of course our own members are welcome at KIVI headquarters from 14:00. We are currently putting together a nice programme, reflecting our three annual themes of 2022: Building Management, Data Management in Industry and Digital Twins. Keep an eye on the activity calendar!
