Description

Established in 1956 as 105 Pontoon Bridge cie ( m4 / m4a2 deck girder bridge ) and like its sister cie's viz 104 Bailey Bridge cie: and 155 Pontoon Bridge cie ( tank bridge kl 60 ) deployed for transport and storage of bridge equipment.
With the introduction of the pontoon plate bridge (hohlplattenbrϋcke) in 1964 , necessary to increase mobility and to replace the obsolete deck girder bridge and tank bridge kl 60 , 105 Pontoon Bridge cie. was transformed into 105 Pontoon Plate Bridge cie.
In 1987, the pontoon plate bridge was replaced by the folding bridge (ribbon brige) and 105 Folding Bridge cie. became a reality. This bridge can be launched and operated by the bridge cie personnel.
In the current army organisation, 105 Gncie. Hydraulics is a unit that can independently launch and maintain bridges incl. the necessary additional facilities and has the following for this purpose:
1. 2 Hydraulics platoons for transporting and launching bridges
2. 1 Construction diver platoon for underwater work
3. 1 Construction platoon
4. 1 Support group with mobile cranes and construction machinery
5. 1 Support group road mat layers
