Description

'Building with Nature' (ecodynamic development and design) offers us the opportunity to build using the dynamics of the natural system. In doing so, we use the forces in nature to create hydraulic infrastructure while creating opportunities for that nature. As we better understand the dynamics of nature, we can increase our ability to integrate nature into the development and design process. Using new insights and knowledge, nature itself then becomes a driving force in the sustainable development of hydraulic infrastructure.

Professor Tiedo Vellinga, recently part-time professor of Ports & Waterways at TU, will open the symposium and outline the concept of Building with Nature. Stefan Aarninkhof (Boskalis) will speak and Petra Dankers (Royal Haskoning) will share her expertise on 'Managed Realignments'. Ecology, Vision and Future Prospects will be discussed. Ties Rijcken (TU- Waterbouw), as chairman of the day of this symposium, will ensure a lively afternoon with a lot of interaction between the speakers
