Visit to the Defence CBRN Centre in Vught
The Defence CBRN Centre(www.dcbrnc.nl) was established in 2012 as part of the Genie Education and Training Centre (OTCGenie) at the direction of the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Security and Justice.
Its interdepartmental character is determined in particular by the presence of the National CBRN Training Centre. CBRN specialists provide mono- and multidisciplinary training there for the fire brigade, police, GGD/GHOR and defence. Training is also provided to international defence units. To optimise multidisciplinary training, staff from the police, fire brigade, GGD/GHOR, NFI, and TNO are employed alongside defence staff. For these training sessions, various settings are available on site for training. Examples include a complete underground station, a collapsed house, a storage shed, a decontamination state and a training house with a cinema, hospital, aeroplane, etc.
Simulantia can be used for combat equipment, training ammunition, tear gas and radioactive sources. Teaching aids are also available as special vehicles, clothing sets, weapons and explosives to simulate. Furthermore, there is expertise on radioactive, chemical biological and nuclear incidents including sampling and decontamination of people and equipment.
The Defence CBRN Centre further consists of a Defence Expertise Centre CBRN (DEC CBRN) with military CBRN specialists from across the armed forces and from Belgium and Germany. A CBRN School that provides military and civilian CBRN training. And a CBRN Response Unit (CBRN RE) ready 24/7 every day of the year to support civilian emergency services in national incidents with Advice & Assistance and reconnaissance capacities. This unit also deploys military CBRN decontamination units when necessary.
The introduction will be provided by Lieutenant Colonel Drs D.J. Broman EMSD, Commander Defence CBRN Centre
