Four-day study visit to Bordeaux
Description
In mid-March 2012, Pharos Knowledge Exchange is organising a study visit to Bordeaux. The focus of this visit will be the ´Pont Bacalan - Bastide´, a lift bridge currently under construction, which will become the fifth link across the Garonne in the Bordeaux conurbation. A giant movable bridge that may be called a symbol of a contemporary city bridge thanks to its understated design and exemplary integration into the urban landscape. In addition, we are introduced to ´Euratlantique`, an urban redevelopment operation of about 1,000 ha on both sides of the Garonne river, which partly finds its impetus in the extension of the HSL to Bordeaux: by 2016, Bordeaux will be just two hours by TGV from Paris.
